Becoming a Reiki Master: A Personal Perspective - 07/03/2013

The decision to go ahead with Reiki Master Training (RMT) is a huge step.
If you are currently at this point in your Reiki journey, take a deep breath and know that all will be well.
I thought it might be useful to write a little about my own experience coming up to Reiki Master training and some considerations for you if you are uncertain about this step.

My own journey through the 3 levels of Reiki training was quite extended - 10 years in fact. It is important to understand that whatever time it takes you, it is the right amount of time. There are no hard and fast rules about exactly how long your learning should take, or whether in fact, you need to take another step at all (but that’s another discussion).

The time leading up to my final decision about RMT was personally quite challenging. The health of my elderly mother was deteriorating and one of my beloved brothers had been diagnosed with mesothelioma (an asbestos related lung cancer). I believe that Reiki teaches us a multitude of lessons, and through it people and experiences are delivered to us exactly as needed. Certainly during this time I went through many experiences and learnt a great deal about relationships, love, myself and life in its broadest sense. I also learnt about death and dying, and the gift of giving Reiki to those gravely ill and in transition to passing over. Deeply sad but also a very powerful lesson in the possibility of passing over in great peace and grace.  It was during this time that it became quite clear to me that I was to proceed with RMT.

I had been thinking about it, and it just seemed so logical and became very clear for me.
Some time after my level 2 training I was given, assigned is probably a better term, three Reiki Guides. Their mission was to help me have fun with the Reiki and to lighten up a little. They also gave me a task once I felt sure it was time for me to proceed. I was to visit some Reiki teachers to find the one/s that I felt – in my heart – were the right ones for me.

This was great fun and very instructive, especially given that I would be teaching Reiki myself in the future. All the Reiki teachers I visited were special and wonderful people and I am grateful to all of them for taking the time to talk to me – none of them were “pushy” in any way, all were walking their talk.
Next I was guided to visit , I say guided because the “feeling “ was very clear and very strong, to see my original Reiki teacher. As soon as I walked in I felt that this was the right place, but I held off any decision until I had time to reflect and meditate.

I made my final decision and everything seemed to progress from that time very quickly. The timing was perfect, the next class was scheduled quite soon and I was ready to go.
I loved every minute of my RMT, despite the fact that the days were quite long. The energy throughout was very powerful, I was exactly where I was supposed to be, doing exactly what I needed to do. I had finally found what I was meant to doin life!

So if you are in the midst of deciding whether to pursue with RMT, I would say to you – listen, feel and watch closely. If you are meant to go ahead clear signs will be put right in front of you, if you miss the first ones, they will get stronger and clearer – and continue until you make this step.
On reflection it seems so easy, but sometimes when we are in the middle of busy lives we can miss these signs, sometimes we need a specific experience before we are ready, sometimes it can be a simple matter of more time or more Reiki.

One of my greatest joys in life is teaching Reiki, every level, as each is so special in its own way.
My RMT is designed in three main parts. The preliminary, which consists of us meeting to have an informal chat and then you writing a reflective piece on your Reiki journey. The next part is the three day Advanced Reiki Training and Reiki Master Training course. Prior to this we will schedule a Healing Attunement as part of your energetic preparation for the course.

After this three day course (you will receive your certificates at the end of this course) an individual programme is devised which includes, assisting with my Reiki courses, Reiki circle/shares, and other activities (some just for you, some with other students).
I hold Reiki Masters courses regularly and you are welcome to give me a call if you wish to have a chat about RMT.

Please note - not all applicants are accepted into my Reiki Master programme, certain criteria must be met, these are in accordance with the Australian Reiki Connection teaching guidelines. Verifiable documentation of prior Reiki courses (Usui Shiki Ryoho level 1 and 2 are pre-requisites) and lineage must be provided and the final decision will be made by me.

I hope this piece has given you some clarity around your own personal direction as well as given you some understanding of my love and background of Reiki.

If you have any questions about this or any of my courses please just give me a call or send an email, I’m very happy to chat to you!
